This year, the Marque Sports Car Association (that we’re part of) has run two events:

* Rob Roy Hillclimb
  One our fellow clubman owners encountered a kangaroo !
  When I say “encountered”, I really mean “thumped into pretty heavily”, hitting the bonnet hard & luckily being saved by the windscreen.

* Sandown Sprints & Regularity
  Christopher Oates & Bruce Rae had their first events, both doing well at our local track.
   Christopher even managed to get fifth place in Regularity, which is pretty impressive: his fellow competitors have been doing it for a thousand years each, driving at Sandown many times each year.
   Our old mate Ian Rusch pulled the finger out, improving by some 3-4 seconds on his previous PB.

   Unfortunately, the other race crowd (horses) had been wetting their racetrack before we arrived & a wet section on our racetrack on the back straight led to a a big crash and crumpled Mustang.
   We don’t see this sort of thing often and it’s a pity for Bruce & Christopher that their first meeting should be this way.

Next up is Phillip Island on Sunday 17th.
If you’re thinking of entering, get in quickly as there are well over one hundred signed up already.

Three VCBG members getting to their first competition: Craig & Finlay Whitehead father and son duo plus my girl Kim.
After the meeting, we’re staying for dinner & to watch the F1 from Melbourne.
